Curriculum Vitae

Birgit Scheefe completed her dance education at the University of Music and Drama in Hannover and finished her studies in 1990 with a degree in dance education. She was engaged as a contemporary and classical dancer at various German theaters, most recently at the Staatstheater Dortmund (2000-2004) and Darmstadt (2004-2006). There she worked with several choreographers, such as Mario Schroeder, Martin Stiefermann, Xin Peng Wang and Nils Christie.

After her active stage career, she completed her training as a certified Polestar Pilates practitioner for mat, reformer and studio. Birgit Scheefe teaches Pilates as instructor and educator for Polestar Pilates nationally and internationally. She was a presenter at the 8th Tamed Congress (2001) on the topic "Pilates as Injury Prevention in Dance" and at the Polestar Pilates Events in Amsterdam (2015) and Monaco (2017).

Since 2015 she is also a Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner. Additional training in 'Spiraldynamik' and the 'Franklin Method' influence her approaches to teaching movement. She is a member of the German Pilates Association DPV and of 'Tamed' e.V. Birgit teaches at the ZZT since 2006 in the field of body awareness methods.
