Curriculum Vitae

Jan Burkhardt has been associated with the CCD for many years, initially as a guest lecturer and since 2015 as a lecturer with a focus on body awareness methods in dance practice. In the summer semester of 2020 he starts as professor for dance practice in an artistic context – on the one hand rooted in dance practice through training and somatic approaches, on the other hand in the development of choreographic and interdisciplinary projects and formats. In addition to his many years of dance and choreographic work including teaching, Jan has been musically active since his childhood, especially on the piano, which continues to play an important part in his artistic practice. Furthermore, socio-political aspects of dance and transdisciplinary collaborations have played a fundamental role for him since the beginning of his dance career. In recent years, this has been primarily in the context of artistic research: to understand dance – also – as a knowledge-generating discipline and resource. In addition to his work at the CCD, Jan continues to work as a freelance dancer/choreographer, coach and teacher and remains a regular guest at ddsks Copenhagen, DOCH Stockholm and CNBD Bucharest.
