Marina Tchijova was born in Moscow. She received her dance education at the State Ballet School in Chisinau. After graduation she was engaged as a dancer and later as a solo dancer at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Chisinau. This was followed by guest appearances at the Bolshoi Theatre and an engagement as solo dancer at Boris Eyfmann's Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg. In addition to her work as a dancer, she gave classes at the State Ballet School in Chisinau and choreographed several pieces at the University for Music and Theatre Chisinau. Parallel to her work as a dancer she studied philology.
Since 1997 Marina Tchijova has been teaching classical dance technique at the University for Music and Dance Cologne according to the Waganowa method, which she learned from Marina Semyonova – an immediate student of A. J. Waganowa. In her classes she teaches well-founded and innovative dance concepts, which offer a solid and also wide-ranging experimental spectrum as a basis for the professional future of the students.
