Monica Kodato

Monica Kodato was born in Sao Paulo (Brazil). In the biggest dance schools and dance studios of this city she was trained in classical and modern dance techniques. She successfully completed various degrees of the "Royal Academy of Dance". Later she deepened this training, both in New York at the "Joffrey Ballet" and in Germany. She also completed her studies in sports science at the "Universidade de Sao Paulo".

As a solo dancer she worked for many years in the renowned companies "Cisne Negro" and "Bale da Cidade de Sao Paulo" in Sao Paulo, where she also received the "Best Dancer of the Year 1989 (APCA)" award. She later worked as an assistant and training manager at "Cisne Negro". In 1993 she was called to Germany, where she could show her skills as a solo dancer in several theatres (Bremer Theater, Volksbühne Berlin, etc.) and companies. She has most recently appeared on the stage of the Bonn Opera.

Monica Kodato has been giving training for years. She teaches in various companies and dance institutions in Germany and abroad. Since 2007 she has been a lecturer in classical dance at the Hochschule Musik und Tanz Köln. One of her strengths is her ability to successfully teach classical dance technique to classical and contemporary dancers.
