The application takes place online via the muvac platform.
First of all, create a profile at muvac and provide all the information about your CV. You may upload all the required documents under the "Documents" tab and your personal profile and, if necessary, you may integrate audio and video recordings under the "Media" tab. To do so, upload your video files to one of the external platforms supported by muvac (YouTube, Vimeo or Youku) and then deposit your link to your videos in your profile.
After that, apply for the desired degree programme (vacancy) via muvac . All information relevant for the application will then be requested online.
As far as you have to submit video files within the scope of a digital preselection, it is absolutely necessary for you to add the link from your muvac profile to your application in muvac.
Provide missing documents exclusively via muvac later.

What is an aptitude test?
A passed aptitude test is evidence for your artistic aptitude.
Where will the aptitude test take place?
Once the complete online application has been finished, you will receive an admission to the aptitude test including the exact test dates from the study secretariat of the Cologne University of Music and Dance [Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln].
How does the aptitude test proceed?
There are different procedures for the Bachelor and Master degree programmes. You may refer to them in the particular aptitude test regulations (see Range of studies and Downloads) for the requirements of the aptitude test.

Refund
Please note that a refund of the fee is basically ruled out, this will also be applicable if the application is withdrawn. The fee will be refunded if reasons of capacity prevent the university from a short-term provision of study places for the course of studies you applied for.

No, caching is not possible. If you interrupt the application procedure, you have to start all over again. Only documents may be supplemented later.

Yes, an application for different degree programmes is possible. If necessary, you have to adapt the "Expertise" (instrument) in your muvac profile.

After that, it is essential to add your application to muvac to allow the committee to give an opinion.
Yes, documents may be uploaded either prior to the beginning of the application procedure to the own muvac profile and may then be directly integrated in the application procedure or may subsequently be supplemented after you have clicked through the application procedure. Please observe the deadlines for a subsequent submission!
No, the application procedure at Cologne HfMT exclusively proceeds online via the muvac platform. Applications submitted by mail cannot be considered.

Studies at that the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln [Cologne University of Music and Dance] require a certificate of the higher education entrance qualification (Abitur). This may be replaced with a certificate which has been recognised as equivalent by a competent governmental authority.
An admission to all artistic and artistic-pedagogical degree programmes at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln [Cologne University of Music and Dance] requires a subject-specific aptitude test.
There are special admission conditions for the Master of Arts in Musicology, Master of Arts in Music Education and Master of Arts in Dance Studies as well as the Master of Education in Teaching at Grammar Schools and Comprehensive Schools.

Studies without A-Levels [Abitur]
In the case of special artistic talent it is also possible to begin the studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln [Cologne University of Music and Dance] without the specified certificate (Abitur). To this effect, you must have proved your outstanding artistic talent in a special artistic aptitude test. In such a case your completed attendance of school will suffice.
International applicants
Furthermore, applicants for studies from abroad must prove linguistic proficiency of the German language since language skills are indispensable for successful studies in Germany.

Guest students may be admitted to individual courses (general lectures) within the scope of the available study places. Admissions are granted each for one semester. Guest students obtain a "guest student certificate" which entitles them to attend the specified courses. Guest students are not entitled to individual lessons and are not entitled to an exercise room in the university. Guest students are not insured in a health scheme. Deductions in fare are not granted. It is not possible for them to take exams and to receive certificates. The application as a guest student is possible with this document.
